The Occupation List for the Subclass 491 visa for NSW Nomination has been updated. However, NSW nomination for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) is by invitation only still now. If you are interested in this and meet the requirement below, you MUST register your interest in NSW.
<New Nomination Process>
To apply for this, you must:
- Be eligible for the Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491).
- Meet the criteria under a NSW nomination stream
- Complete an EOI
- Register your interest during a submission window (August and October in 2021, January and March in 2022)
- Be invited to apply
- Apply to an RDA (Regional Development Australia) office where your skills are required within 14 days
<Nomination Criteria>
In this financial year, there are three nomination streams:
- Stream 1: I am living and working in Regional NSW
- Stream 2: I have recently completed study in Regional NSW
- Stream3 : I am skilled in an occupation required in Regional NSW
Preference is given to migrants registering their interest under Stream 1. For more information, visit here.
There are two findings from this update. First, requirement and criteria is unclear and complicated. NSW does not release information about the overall quota of nomination places, or allocation of places to each occupation. In addition, the skilled occupations for 491 visa are different in each region. This makes the requirements for 491 visa complicated in NSW. This occupation list is supposed to be updated occasionally. Therefore, it is crucial for you to check them out regularly. Second, Stream 1 is difficult. If you see the Stream 1, you might be surprised to know the variety of the professional and the managerial roles are covered in this Occupation List. However, because of border closure, it is expected that meeting requirements for Stream 1 is quite hard. You must have lived and worked in a nominated occupation in a designated regional area in NSW for at least 12 months.
From these findings, it would be difficult to apply for EOI and get an invitation from NSW without professional assistance. AMS is here to support you. We not only assist you getting 491 visas but also offer you a job placement service as well. We can introduce you a job in regional NSW, too.
