Victoria’s Skilled Migration Program is now open

As a leading destination for skilled migration, Victoria has attracted people from around the world and continues to build its reputation as a vibrant city with world-class facilities and surroundings.

The Skilled Migrant State Nomination Program offers skilled migrants a pathway to permanent residency in Victoria. The skills that successful applicants bring to Victoria benefits employers and the broader Victorian economy.

The program provides two visa pathways.

Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) is designed for skilled migrants to live and work anywhere in Victoria. Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) is also available for skilled migrants, who wish to live and work in regional Victoria and provides a pathway to permanent residency through the Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa (subclass 191).

To apply for a skilled visa, first you will need to complete the Registration of Interest (ROI) form. You will then be selected on competitive merit to apply for visa nomination.

Before you submit a ROI, you should make sure that you meet all of the requirements for eligibility.

ROIs will be assessed until May 2023.

Not selected in 2021-22?

The 2021-22 program attracted more than 15,000 Registrations of Interest. We encourage applicants who were not selected to apply to submit a new Registration of Interest for the 2022-23 program.

Changes for the 2022-23 program

Onshore and offshore applicants can apply

Applicants living outside Australia can apply for the subclass 190 visa, and applicants living in Victoria can also apply for the subclass 491 visa. The State is currently prioritising health occupations for subclass 491 visa nomination.
